The short version

This site does not track you. There are no analytics, no advertising, no cookies set by this site. There is no login and no form to fill in. The only thing kept in your browser is a small note recording that you have dismissed the privacy message at the bottom of the screen. If you want to contact Mary Gonzalez you send her an email yourself, from your own email account.

What this site does not collect

• No accounts, logins or passwords.
• No contact form. Nothing you type is sent to this site.
• No cookies set by this site, of any kind.
• No third party consent or cookie banner service.
• No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising networks, no social media trackers.
• No profiling and no automated decision making.
• Nothing is sold or shared with anyone for marketing.

The one thing kept in your browser

The first time you arrive, a short message appears explaining that this site does not track you. When you dismiss it, a single entry is written to your browser's local storage so the message does not keep reappearing. It holds no personal data, it is never sent anywhere, and it never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it. You can bring the message back at any time using the Cookie notice link in the footer.

What does happen when you visit

Server logs. Like every website, this one is delivered by a hosting company. That company keeps standard access logs, which normally include your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser type. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure. Mary does not use them to identify anyone. They are held by the hosting provider under its own retention policy.

Fonts. The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). To send you the font files, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Google states that it does not use these requests to build advertising profiles. If this concerns you, blocking those two domains will not break the site; you will simply see standard system fonts instead.

If you email her

The contact link on this site opens your own email program. When you email Mary, she receives whatever you choose to write: your name, your email address, your agency, and anything else you include. She uses it only to reply to you and to deal with your enquiry.

The lawful basis for this is legitimate interests under the UK GDPR: you have contacted her and she is answering. She keeps enquiries only for as long as they are useful, and deletes them when they are not. Emails sit in her email account, which is provided by Google (Gmail).

Links to other sites

This site links to Amazon, to izzybeaver.com and to thesitethatwas.co.uk. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else's site, under their privacy policy, not this one. Mary is not responsible for how those sites handle your data.

Children

Mary writes children's books, but this site is aimed at adults, and mainly at literary agents. It is not directed at children and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to ask for a copy of any personal data held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form. Because this site collects nothing, in practice this will only ever apply to an email you have sent her.

If you are not happy with her answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If this site ever starts collecting something, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. There is no mailing list, so please check back here.
